Sixth Sunday: Jesus heals a blind man(Samiyo/ The Blind Man).
On 17 Mar 2013, we celebrate the Sixth Sunday of the Great Lent – The Sunday of the Blind Man who get healed by Jesus on the Sabbath day.
The biblical story of this event is found in the Gospel of St:John 9:1-41:
1 അവൻ കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോൾ പിറവിയിലെ കുരുടനായോരു മനുഷ്യനെ കണ്ടു.
2 അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: റബ്ബീ, ഇവൻ കുരുടനായി പിറക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ആർ പാപം ചെയ്തു? ഇവനോ ഇവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
3 അതിന്നു യേശു: “അവൻ എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരെങ്കിലും പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ല, ദൈവപ്രവൃത്തി അവങ്കൽ വെളിവാകേണ്ടതിന്നത്രേ.
4 എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി പകൽ ഉള്ളേടത്തോളം നാം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; ആർക്കും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുകൂടാത്ത രാത്രി വരുന്നു;
5 ഞാൻ ലോകത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം ആകുന്നു” എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
6 ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ നിലത്തു തുപ്പി തുപ്പൽകൊണ്ടു ചേറുണ്ടാക്കി ചേറു അവന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേൽ പൂശി
7 “നീ ചെന്നു ശിലോഹാംകുളത്തിൽ കഴുകുക” എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു; ശിലോഹാം എന്നതിന്നു അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ എന്നർത്ഥം. അവൻ പോയി കഴുകി, കണ്ണു കാണുന്നവനായി മടങ്ങിവന്നു.
1–2: One day while Jesus was walking with His disciples, they saw a man who had been blind from birth. The disciples asked if he was blind because he had sinned or because his parents had sinned.
3–5: The Savior said that neither the man nor his parents had sinned, that the man was blind so that Jesus could heal him. Then people could see God’s power.
6–7: Jesus made mud out of the dirt and put it on the blind man’s eyes. Then He told the man to wash his eyes.
7 : As soon as the man washed the mud from his eyes, he could see!
8–11: When his friends saw him, they thought that he was someone else. He told them that a man called Jesus had healed him.
13-34: The friends took the man to the Pharisees. The Pharisees asked him how he had been healed. When he told them, they were angry and told him to go away.
35–38: Jesus found the man and asked him if he believed on the Son of God. The man asked who the Son of God was so he could believe in Him. Jesus said that it was He Himself, and the man worshiped Him.
Summary:
Jesus heals a blind man on Sabbath by applying clay on his eyes and asking him to wash his eyes in the pool of Siloam. In this Gospel passage, Jesus tells us, "I am the light of the world".
In this passage we also see the Blind Man professing his faith. He tells Jesus, "Lord I believe." . He proclaims to the Pharisees, "I was blind, but now I see".
Let us also use this day to renew our faith and confess our faith "Lord I believe" and let us proclaim to the world, "I was spiritually blind, but now I see."
ആതമാവിന്റെ അന്ധതയിൽ നിന്നും കാഴ്ച്ച പ്രാപിക്കാൻ നമുക്കു ഒരുമിച്ചു പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കാം ,ഇന്നേ ദിവസം സഭാദിനം കൂടിയണല്ലൊ , പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കാം നമ്മുടെ സഭക്ക് വേണ്ടി .പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കാം സഭയുടെ കെട്ടുറപ്പിനായി …ഒരുങ്ങാം സഭയുടെ വിശുദ്ധിക്കായി ….ചേര്‍ന്ന് നില്‍ക്കാം പിതാക്കാന്‍മാര്‍ക്കൊപ്പം
