രോഗം തനുവിനു കൂനും ക്ഷീണവും ഉളവാക്കുംപോല്‍
പാപവ്യാധികള്‍ ആത്മാവിന്നും കൂനുണ്ടാക്കും
കൂനന് മുകളില്‍ ദൃഷ്ടി പതിപ്പാന്‍ കഴിയാത്തതുപോല്‍
കൂനെഴും ആത്മാവുയരെ പരനെക്കാണാന്‍ വിഷമം

സംഘാലയമതില്‍ വാനവ വൈദ്യന്‍‍ സാദരമേറി
സൂക്ഷിചലിയും കണ്ണാല്‍‍ കണ്ടൊരു കൂനി സ്ത്രീയെ
യാചന കൂടാതന്‍‍പാല്‍‍‍ അവളുടെ കൂനു നിവര്‍‍ത്തി
അതുപോലെങ്ങടെ പാപക്കൂനും പൊക്കുക പരനേ!

പതിനെട്ടു സംവത്സരം നിവരുവാന്‍ കഴിയാതെ ഇരുന്ന ആ കൂനിയായ സ്ത്രീയുടെ കൂനിനെ തന്‍റെ മനസലിവാല്‍ നിവര്‍ത്തവനായ ദൈവമേ, പാപഭാരത്താല്‍ കൂനിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഞങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മ ശരീര മനസ്സുകളെ  നീ നിവര്‍ത്തെണമേ. ഞങ്ങളുടെ രോഗ ബന്ധനങ്ങളെ അഴിക്കേണമേ, ജീവിതക്ലേശ ഭാരത്താല്‍ വീണുപോകുന്ന ഞങ്ങളെ നിരാശയില്‍ നിപതിക്കാന്‍ ഇടവരാതെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളണമേ. മാനുഷിക ബലഹീനതകളാല്‍ പാപം ചെയ്യാനിടവരുമ്പോള്‍ അനുതാപത്തോടെ പിതാവിന്‍റെ  അടുക്കലേക്കു പിന്തിരിയുവാനുള്ള അനുഗ്രഹം ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നല്‍കണമേ. 

On 10  March, we celebrate the Fifth Sunday of the Great Lent – The Sunday of the crippled women who get healed by Jesus on the Sabbath day.

            The story of the crippled woman deals with physical healing, but it has a larger dimension. Her twisted body, permanently bent downwards, was a symbol of those who lack hope. The story suggests that, with Jesus’ help, we can raise ourselves so that our vision is upwards, to God.

              The story is all about hope. We should focus on that which praises God, that which is optimistic and hopeful. If we do so we shall, like the crippled woman, be inspired to straighten ourselves to a standing position, where we see forward to the possibilities in life, and upwards to God for inspiration.

Bible Reading - St Luke 13:10-17

‘Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. 

When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said “Woman, you are set free from your ailment”. When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. 

But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the Sabbath, kept saying to the crowd “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath”. 

But the Lord answered him and said “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the Sabbath day?” 

When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing.’

10 ഒരു ശബ്ബത്തിൽ അവൻ ഒരു പള്ളിയിൽ ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു;

11 അവിടെ പതിനെട്ടു സംവത്സരമായി ഒരു രോഗാത്മാവു ബാധിച്ചിട്ടു ഒട്ടും നിവിരുവാൻ കഴിയാതെ കൂനിയായോരു സ്ത്രീ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

12 യേശു അവളെ കണ്ടു അടുക്കെ വിളിച്ചു: “സ്ത്രീയേ, നിന്റെ രോഗബന്ധനം അഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവളുടെ മേൽ കൈവെച്ചു.

13 അവൾ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ നിവിർന്നു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി.

14 യേശു ശബ്ബത്തിൽ സൌഖ്യമാക്കിയതു കൊണ്ടു പള്ളി പ്രമാണി നീരസപ്പെട്ടു പുരുഷാരത്തോടു: വേല ചെയ്‍വാൻ ആറുദിവസമുണ്ടല്ലോ; അതിന്നകം വന്നു സൌഖ്യം വരുത്തിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ; ശബ്ബത്തിൽ അരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15 കർത്താവു അവനോടു: “കപടഭക്തിക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തൻ ശബ്ബത്തിൽ തന്റെ കാളയെയോ കഴുതയെയോ തൊട്ടിയിൽ നിന്നു അഴിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി വെള്ളം കുടിപ്പിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? എന്നാൽ സാത്താൻ പതിനെട്ടു സംവത്സരമായി ബന്ധിച്ചിരുന്ന അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ മകളായ ഇവളെ ശബ്ബത്തുനാളിൽ ഈ ബന്ധനം അഴിച്ചു വിടേണ്ടതല്ലയോ ” എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

17 അവൻ ഇതു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ വിരോധികൾ എല്ലാവരും നാണിച്ചു; അവനാൽ നടക്കുന്ന സകല മഹിമകളാലും പുരുഷാരം ഒക്കെയും സന്തോഷിച്ചു.
